He keeps the flame in a brass urn at his hip. He has carried it for forty years. The flame was lit at the original altar-stone, in the original temple, before this current campaign was a thought in the priesthood's plan — and it has not gone out once.
The Marduk Sorcerer is the original spellcaster of the Cult of Marduk — the first sorcerer figure released in the Highlands Miniatures line, the foundational wizard-archetype that the entire Marduk magical hierarchy is built around. Where the Marduk Sorcerer 2 is the patient-scholarly variant of the order and the Great Sorcerer of Marduk on Lamassu is the high-ritual supreme authority, the Marduk Sorcerer is the working spellcaster — the wizard who handles the day-to-day magic of an army on campaign, the cleric-mage who walks at the side of the captain's staff, the figure the soldiers know by sight because he has been with their formation since the year they were inducted into the bull-god's service. He carries the standard tools of his order — the staff topped with the brass urn that holds the patient flame of Marduk, the scrolls of cuneiform incantation tucked into the belts of his ritual robe, the small ceremonial axe at his hip that has not been drawn in anger in over a decade. He wears the laminar armor of the priesthood under his robes, the layered plates fitted to his frame so they do not interfere with the gestures of his spellcasting. His beard is braided in the six-strand pattern of the working sorcerer-rank, marked with the small bronze rings that record the number of campaigns he has completed in the bull-god's service. His face is calm. His eyes are the dull gold of a wizard who has stared into the flame long enough that the flame has stopped surprising him. He is not the most powerful sorcerer the Cult has fielded. He is something more important: he is the most reliable. Designed by Highlands Miniatures and printed in Texas by Border3D LLC on an Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra 12K machine — every braided beard fiber, every cuneiform scroll edge, every brass-urn rivet, every laminar armor plate rendered at maximum resolution in high-fidelity photopolymer resin.
